Alumasc’s blue rain drops bring fun and colour to Lord Mayor’s Show
Alumasc Water Management Solutions (AWMS) was among the many supplier brands supporting the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants’ (WCoBM) Float at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show. Two members of staff, dressed as bright blue water droplets, took part in the three mile walk. Rainy weather and gloomy skies did not stop crowds of people lining the streets to watch the popular Show. AWMS’ costumes attracted every eye in the crowds.
AWMS is the umbrella brand for four trusted brands in water management and its strapline – from rain to drain – was perfect for the weather. The rain drop costumes were also perfect for an integrated water management solutions story. Managing Director Steve Durdant-Hollamby comments: “Although the weather wasn’t on our side, it was a fantastic day and a privilege to be part of such a high profile Show. WCoBM’s float was captured live on the BBC and our bright blue costumes stood out at a distance!
“The two girls wearing the costumes did really well as they’re not easy to walk in, especially for any length of time. In fact all the building material suppliers’ costumes that took part looked great!”
The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the best-known annual events in London as well as one of the longest-established, dating back over 800 years. WCoBM’s float supported the new Lord Mayor, Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley who is an Honorary Liveryman of the WCoBM. The theme of the float was ‘Builders’ Merchants: Supplying Britain’s Building Needs’, demonstrating the importance of builders’ merchanting to construction and the UK economy. It also highlighted the many career opportunities in construction for young people.
